How to Use Conception Calculator
The Conception Calculator helps you estimate your ovulation day, best conception window, and expected due date in seconds.
- Choose a mode — Select "From Last Period" if you know your last menstrual period (LMP), or "From Due Date" if you already have a due date from a scan or provider.
- Enter your date — Input your LMP start date or your known due date.
- Set cycle length — For the LMP mode, enter your average cycle length (default 28 days). The Conception Calculator instantly updates the results.
The tool displays three key outputs: the estimated ovulation day, the best conception window (fertile days), and the estimated due date. All data stays private — no information leaves your device.
Formula & Theory — Conception Calculator
The Conception Calculator applies the standard obstetric estimation method:
Next Period = LMP + Cycle Length
Ovulation Day = Next Period − 14 days
Fertile Window = Ovulation Day − 5 days to Ovulation Day
Estimated Due Date = LMP + 280 days
When working backwards from a due date:
Estimated Conception = Due Date − 266 days
Conception Window = Estimated Conception − 5 days to Estimated Conception + 1 day
| Symbol | Meaning |
|---|---|
| LMP | First day of last menstrual period |
| Cycle Length | Average number of days between periods |
| 14 days | Standard luteal phase length |
| 280 days | Average pregnancy duration from LMP |
| 266 days | Average pregnancy duration from conception |
Limitations
The Conception Calculator assumes a consistent luteal phase of 14 days. If your cycle is shorter or longer than average, or if you ovulate earlier or later, your actual ovulation date may differ. Cycle irregularity, stress, illness, and hormonal factors all affect ovulation timing.
Use Cases for Conception Calculator
The Conception Calculator is helpful across a range of planning and educational contexts:
- Trying to conceive — Identify the days with the highest probability of conception to time intercourse effectively.
- Pregnancy dating — Estimate when conception likely occurred if you already know your due date from an ultrasound.
- Cycle awareness — Learn how cycle length affects the fertile window using the Conception Calculator as an interactive guide.
- Health education — Understand the relationship between menstrual cycles, ovulation, and pregnancy timelines.
The Conception Calculator is a convenient starting point, but remember: individual biology varies. Always confirm important reproductive health decisions with a qualified healthcare provider.
