How to Use Korean Age Calculator
The Korean Age Calculator lets you compare the three ages side by side.
- Enter the birth date — Year, month and day.
- Enter the calculation date — Defaults to today; tap “Use today” to reset.
- Read the three results — International age, Korean age (traditional) and year age.
Formula & Theory - Korean Age Calculator
International age is the number of completed years since birth:
internationalAge = endYear - birthYear
if (endMonth, endDay) is earlier than (birthMonth, birthDay):
internationalAge = internationalAge - 1
Year age compares calendar years only:
yearAge = endYear - birthYear
Traditional Korean age starts at 1 at birth and increments each January 1:
koreanAge = (endYear - birthYear) + 1
The three numbers can differ by up to two years before your birthday, which is why the Korean Age Calculator shows all three explicitly.
Use Cases for Korean Age Calculator
The Korean Age Calculator is helpful when:

- Reading Korean media — News headlines and dramas frequently mix the three age systems.
- Family records — Compare ages on family-tree dates that span the 2023 reform.
- Curiosity — See how your age would be described in Korea.
- K-pop fandom — Birth-year-based “year age” is dominant in idol culture.
- Visa & paperwork — Verify the International age that legal documents now require.
Because the Korean Age Calculator runs entirely in your browser, your birth date stays private and the result is instant.
