How to Use Tokkul Calculator
The Tokkul Calculator helps Old School RuneScape players plan TzHaar shop purchases such as Uncut Onyx, Obsidian cape, Obsidian shield, and other rewards that require a large Tokkul balance. Start by choosing a reward preset or entering a custom Tokkul target. Add your current Tokkul, the quantity you want to buy, and the market price you expect to receive if you sell the reward afterward.
Next, choose a rune or sellable item method. The built-in examples include a Chaos rune method and a Death rune method, but the fields are intentionally editable because Grand Exchange prices move constantly. Enter the price per rune, the Tokkul received per rune, and whether you want to apply a Karamja gloves bonus. The tool then calculates the missing Tokkul, how many runes must be sold, total cost, cost per Tokkul, estimated profit, ROI, and a break-even price.
Use the comparison section when you are deciding between Chaos runes and Death runes. If one method has a lower GP per Tokkul, it is generally more efficient for buying Onyx or other Tokkul rewards. The result is still only as accurate as the manual prices you enter, so treat the default values as examples rather than live market data.
Formula & Theory - Tokkul Calculator
The Tokkul Calculator is based on a small set of practical planning formulas:
Total Tokkul target = Tokkul per reward × purchase quantity
Tokkul gap = max(Total Tokkul target - current Tokkul, 0)
Effective Tokkul per rune = base Tokkul per rune × glove bonus multiplier
Required runes = ceil(Tokkul gap ÷ Effective Tokkul per rune)
Total cost = Required runes × rune price
Obtained Tokkul = Required runes × Effective Tokkul per rune
GP per Tokkul = Total cost ÷ Obtained Tokkul
Estimated profit = reward market value - Total cost
ROI % = Estimated profit ÷ Total cost × 100
Break-even price = Total cost ÷ purchase quantity
The rounding step is important. If you need 10,001 Tokkul and each rune gives 9 Tokkul, you cannot sell a fraction of a rune, so the required rune count must round up. This can produce a small amount of extra Tokkul, which is why the calculator uses obtained Tokkul when showing cost per Tokkul.
The profit and ROI fields are best used for quick planning, not final investment advice. OSRS item prices can change quickly, and shop mechanics or exchange rates may be adjusted by future game updates. For that reason, every price and exchange value is manually editable.
Use Cases for Tokkul Calculator
The Tokkul Calculator is useful when planning an Uncut Onyx purchase through the TzHaar shops and you want to know whether buying runes from the Grand Exchange is cheaper than simply buying the Onyx directly. It also helps players compare Obsidian equipment rewards, bulk purchases, and alternative sellable items.
Players who search for OSRS Tokkul Calculator, Tokkul to GP Calculator, Onyx Tokkul Calculator, or Chaos Runes to Tokkul Calculator usually need the same core answer: how many runes are required, how much GP is tied up, and whether the reward can be sold for a profit. This tool keeps those numbers together in one result panel.
It can also be used as a break-even calculator. If your expected sale price is below the break-even result, the exchange is probably not profitable. If it is above break-even, the method may be worth considering, especially when the comparison panel shows a low GP per Tokkul method.
