How to Use Duty Cycle Calculator
Enter the time the signal stays high and the full period time, both in milliseconds. The high time must be less than or equal to the period. The calculator returns duty cycle as a percentage, low time in milliseconds, frequency in hertz, and the high-time ratio.
Formula & Theory - Duty Cycle Calculator
Duty cycle describes what fraction of one cycle is active or high. The calculator divides high time by total period and multiplies by 100. Low time is the remainder of the period. Because the period input is treated as milliseconds, frequency is calculated as 1000 divided by the period.
dutyCycle = highTime / periodTime * 100
lowTime = periodTime - highTime
frequencyHz = 1000 / periodTime
Use Cases for Duty Cycle Calculator
Use it for PWM signals, microcontroller timing, LED dimming, motor control notes, oscillator checks, and lab measurements where you know pulse width and period but need duty cycle or frequency quickly.
