How to Use Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator
The Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator is a front-end Kaal Sarp Yog finder for users who already have kundli or birth chart positions. It checks whether the seven visible planets, Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn, are all placed between Rahu and Ketu on one side of the node axis.
Choose degree mode if you have planetary longitudes from a kundli, astrology app, or birth chart report. Enter Rahu, Ketu, and each planet as a value from 0 to 359.999 degrees. Degree mode is the recommended input method because the arc calculation can be performed directly.
House mode is available for quick checks. Enter Rahu, Ketu, and the planets as house numbers from 1 to 12. The calculator approximates each house as a 30-degree sector from the ascendant, so the result is less precise. It is helpful for cultural or entertainment exploration, but it should not be treated as a detailed chart reading.
The boundary tolerance selector controls how strictly planets near Rahu or Ketu are treated. Strict mode uses no tolerance, normal mode allows about 3 degrees, and loose mode allows about 5 degrees. The result card shows Full, Partial, or Not Detected, the Rahu-Ketu axis, the house positions, a circular zodiac visualization, and which planets fall inside or outside the selected arc.
Formula & Theory - Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator
The Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator follows a common traditional rule:
If Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, and Saturn
all fall between Rahu and Ketu on the same zodiac arc,
then a full Kaal Sarp Dosh / Kaal Sarp Yog pattern is detected.
The calculator normalizes every longitude to a 0–360 degree circle:
normalized degree = ((degree % 360) + 360) % 360
It then checks two arcs:
Arc A = Rahu → Ketu
Arc B = Ketu → Rahu
If all seven planets are in one arc, the result is Full. If six of seven are in the strongest arc, the result is Partial or weak pattern possible. If the planets are clearly split across both arcs, the result is Not Detected.
When a full pattern is detected, the calculator identifies the traditional type by Rahu’s house: 1st Anant, 2nd Kulik, 3rd Vasuki, 4th Shankhpal, 5th Padam, 6th Mahapadam, 7th Takshak, 8th Karkotak, 9th Shankhachur, 10th Ghatak, 11th Vishdhar, and 12th Sheshnag.
Use Cases for Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator
The Kaal Sarp Dosh Calculator is intended for cultural, educational, and entertainment reference. It can help users compare kundli data, learn how Rahu-Ketu axis logic is described, and understand the difference between full and partial Kaal Sarp patterns.
- Kundli checking: Enter known longitudes from an existing birth chart and quickly see the arc distribution.
- Type identification: If a full pattern appears, identify the commonly named type based on Rahu’s house.
- Learning astrology rules: Review why Rahu, Ketu, and the seven visible planets are central to the traditional definition.
- Visual exploration: Use the circular chart to see how the planets are distributed around the zodiac.
This calculator does not make predictions, prescribe remedies, or claim certainty. Kaal Sarp Dosh interpretations vary across astrologers and traditions. Use the result as an astrology-based informational reference only, not as the basis for major life, health, marriage, or financial decisions.
